The need

The Olivine team began conversations with Untapped in mid-2020. Despite the initial delay caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the project officially kicked off in the spring of 2021. 

Our team was asked to produce a cinematic re-brand film for Untapped, formerly known as Jumpstart. The video aims to creatively introduce Untapped' fresh new brand, mission, and the importance of diversity and inclusion in the workplace through the lens of recruiters.

Phase 1

 

Creative Development

The idea behind the film was to use an emotionally motivating approach to illustrate how recruiters are heroes, celebrating them by showcasing how much they impact lives.

We decided to craft four separate stories, each of which focused on a recruiter and a job candidate who landed their dream job because of the effort put in by the recruiter. We opted for a documentary-style approach to portray the realness of the relationship between a recruiter and a candidate.

Phase 2

 

Pre-production

After finalizing the creative plan, we moved into pre-production and agreed on a schedule to guide us through the various production phases.

After the real candidates and recruiters agreed to share their stories of how they used Untapped on film, we moved on to script treatment, story beats treatment, and location scouting.

Phase 3

 

Filming

This film was shot over three days with a seven-person crew. On the first day of filming, we captured interviews with our leading voices, recruiters, and candidates. Each had a thirty-minute conversation with our director, Gary, while looking straight into the camera via an eyeline prompter.

On days two and three of filming, we worked with our candidates to capture b-roll sequences in their daily routines. Conscious about the challenge of filming with non-actors, a smaller crew including camera folks and a director filmed them in their homes or in other places they usually go to to create a more intimate relationship and make them feel comfortable.

Phase 4

 

Post Production

It took five full days to edit the first cut of the film. We made three rounds of revisions and got actionable feedback after each round. After the final cut was approved, we applied color correction and sound mixing. We continued to make adjustments up until we ended with the final master video.
